Several times a year Cadets will have the opportunity to participate in a Field Training Exercise (FTX) weekend. These mandatory overnight activities typically take place in the Fall, Winter and Spring of each training year.
These FTX's are designed to give the cadet practical experience living and operating in the outdoors. The primary goals are to give the cadets useful outdoor skills in a fun and comfortable weekend atmosphere.
There are several different types of exercises the corps holds and knowing what type of exercise you are attending will help you to prepare. The three major FTX's held in a training year are;

Cadets should bring the following items on exercise with them. Please keep in mind this is a canoeing and hiking activity, your cadet may get wet. Cadets will hike with provided day packs.
Field Training Uniform (FTUs)
Pants X 2 (Avoid jeans and other materials that do not breathe or resist moisture)
Hiking shorts (weather dependent)
T-Shirts X 3
Sweater / hoodie
Hat / toque / head-wear
Socks X 3 (minimum)
Underwear X 3
Shoes (running shoes OK),
Water bottle (Should be a sealable container)
Wash cloth, face towel
Other toiletry items as required
Other items to consider;
Knife / fork / spoon (KFS)
DO NOT BRING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING
Electronic devices - iPad / iPod / MP3 playing devices
Cellular phones (no service or very poor service)
Food (attracts unwanted animals and insects)
